Minister To Lam speaks at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting on security and order as well as prevention and combat of acute respiratory infection caused by novel coronavirus, Minister To Lam said that the number of Chinese tourists entering and departing Vietnam on air routes from January 23 reached 108,000 and 75,000 respectively. The number of entries and exits of Chinese tourists into and from the country declined gradually as the Tet holiday ended.

Currently, large Vietnamese tourist agents have cancelled tours from and to disease-affected areas of China; however, there are a large number of Chinese tourists still in Da Nang, Quang Ninh and Khanh Hoa.

Minister To Lam emphasized that the MPS has coordinated with the press and media to promote dissemination of exact information about the virus and disease situation with the aim of avoiding public panic, and warned people against gatherings and public places.

The MPS also coordinated with competent forces to control immigration at land, air and sea border gates, temporarily suspend the approval of visas to Vietnam for people from epidemic-affected areas. The MPS also advised local authorities to count the number of Chinese tourists still in their localities and ask them to provide information about their health, hometowns, and itineraries to classify and take necessary measures.

Minister To Lam also said that the Public Security Forces also handled four cases in different localities for spreading fake information about the disease situation in Vietnam, causing public anxiety.
