Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security on April 10th chaired a meeting with police leaders of central units and localities at the headquarters of the Ministry of Public Security to work out measures to ensure security and order during the 42th Vietnam Reunification Day (30-4) and International Workers' Day (1-5).

At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam stated that, under the timely instructions of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee and the Government, security force agencies and units at all levels have basically maintained social security and order, contributing to socio-economic development and national security, defense and foreign affairs.
But, the social security and order situation in some central provinces became complicated with a number of illegal demonstrations and protests with the participation of many parishioners. They blocked the highway, fought officials on duties, posted on the Internet cut-and-past video clips on disorder and fights and information distorting the Government’s policy on compensation for local people affected by last year’s environmental incidents. Parishioners even gathered at the District People's Committee causing a seriously insecure state in the area.
In order to restore the situation and ensure local security and order during the upcoming anniversaries and future, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam requested leaders of police units to proactively prevent, detect and resolutely handle illegal protests or mass gatherings blocking the traffic on the highways.
Local police should well maintain social order, absolutely protect public, government and police premises in key areas, while ensuring normal operations of all agencies, businesses and organizations in localities.
