At the meeting, representatives of the Hai Duong Provincial Police Department briefed the Deputy Minister on the complicated pandemic situation in the province. Reportedly, hundreds of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Hai Duong.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son appreciated the effort and responsibility of the Hai Duong provincial police as well as their coordination with other functional forces in preventing and controlling the spread of the disease in the locality.
The Deputy Minister asked functional agencies under the MPS to provide the Hai Duong provincial police force with sufficient medical supplies used for pandemic prevention and control as soon as possible. At the same time, the agencies should draw up plans to support and reinforce the Hai Duong police upon request.
He also asked the Public Security Department of Health to urgently consult the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Pandemic Prevention and Control about conducting COVID-19 tests for inmates who have already served their imprisonment sentences at the Hai Duong-based Hoang Tien Detention Center.
If they are tested negative, the Department should advise the National Steering Committee and coordinate with local authorities to guide the newly-released inmates to quarantine themselves at their places in accordance with regulations.
