Minister To Lam answers questions about issues of much public concern at NA's Standing Committee

PSNews - Minister of Public Security To Lam on August 13 answered questions on major issues of much public concern, related to social security and order, crime prevention and control, economic crimes, power abuse and so on at the ongoing working session of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly (NA).

The National Assembly's Standing Committee started the questions and answers (Q&A) today (on August 13) as part of its ongoing 26th working session. The Q&A was broadcast live on national television and radio.

Under the chair of Deputy Chairman of the NA Do Ba Ty, Minister of Public Security To Lam answered questions from deputies on many issues of public concern, related to social security and order, crime prevention and control, power abuse and so on.

Regarding some recent complicated developments in the social order situation, Minister To Lam affirmed that the Public Security Forces had accomplished their main tasks of ensuring political security and maintaining social order and safety, contributing to creating a peaceful, stable environment for the country’s development.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Public Security will advise Party committees at all levels to mobilize the comprehensive strength of the political system in preventing and fighting crimes, promote legal education to raise public awareness of crime prevention and  well manage former criminals and suspect subjects.

In addition, the Ministry of Public Security will also increase the application of technical crime prevention measures such as installing cameras in major cities.

Regarding "Vu Nhom" case, (The Ministry of Public Security filed an additional charge of “abuse of position and power while on duty” against Phan Van Anh Vu, also known as "Vu Nhom”, who has already been charged with two crimes: “deliberately unveiling state secrets” and “tax evasion”) Minister To Lam emphasized that the ministry will soon apply preventive measures to ensure that the same case should not happen in the future.

Regarding frauds in the 2018 National High School Exams, Minister To Lam said the Ministry of Public Security in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training will scrutinize all steps and procedures of grading papers of the National High-School Graduation Exams in all localities, and will conduct investigation into any signs of frauds. He also revealed that the ministry has also prosecuted 3 cases with charges of abuse of power during performing official duties.

According to Minister To Lam, suspects of these fraud cases with the use of sophisticated techniques. To answer a deputy’s question about possible frauds in the previous National High-School Graduation Exams, the minister said that cheatings may have been made in not only the 2018's exam but also previous ones. 

To prevent frauds at the National High School Exams, Minister To Lam said that the ministry would continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training to establish a closed circle of procedures for grading exam papers. "All the steps must be closed without any loopholes", the Minister stressed, adding that any people involved in the wrongdoings, including police officers, will be strictly punished in line with the laws.
