Minister To Lam asks Dien Bien to resolutely fight drug-related crime

PSNews –General To Lam, Politburo’s member, Minister of Public Security, leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), on May 14 visited and worked with the authority of Dien Bien Province on the tasks of ensuring political security and social order and safety in the province.

At the working session with the Standing Board of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, Minister To Lam proposed the province to effectively combine the implementation of policies maintenance of local public security and order.

In particular, Minister To Lam asked the province to pay more attention to dealing with religious issues, resolutely solve unplanned migration movements, and immediately prevent bad subjects and hostile forces from undermining local and national security.

Besides, the province should continue to fight against crimes, especially drug-related crimes, as Dien Bien is a hotspot of illegal drug trafficking.

Dien Bien is close to the Golden Triangle, the conjunction of the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar, facilitating operations of drug trafficking rings.

Recently, Dien Bien province saw many serious criminal cases related to dangerous criminals and drug addicts. Therefore, Minister To Lam has urged the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department to work out more specific solutions while working closely with the local Party committees and authorities to curb and prevent this type of crime.

Minister To Lam also asked the local police to pay attention to force building and Party building to augment the quality of their task accomplishment, while preparing forces and means to ensure security for the Party Congress at all levels.

Within the framework of the working trip to the Northwest province, on same day, Minister To Lam and the delegation also visited and laid wreath, offered incense to  heroic martyrs in the A1 Hill Cemetery.
