Minister To Lam praises public security forces nationwide for efforts in implementing two key projects.

General To Lam, Minister of Public Security on June 1 sent a letter of commendation to members of the Steering Committee for the National Population Database Project and the Chip-based ID Card (e-ID card) Project and provincial-level police departments under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) for their efforts and achievements in implementing the two key projects.

The main contents of the letter are below:

Since March, under the directions of the MPS, the public security agencies and units nationwide have actively implemented the two key projects on national population database and e-ID card and achieved important results. Despite the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police forces nationwide have collected 50 million e-ID card applications by June 1, completing the set target before the deadline, as well as completed the confirmation of 80% of the residential data on the National Population Database.

On behalf of the MPS, Minister To Lam highly appreciated the important achievements of the MPS Steering Committee for the two projects, the provincial-level police departments as well as the Police Department of Social Order Administrative Management over the past time.

As there remains a little time to the deadline of July 1 for the two projects, Minister To Lam asked the MPS Steering Committee for the two projects and the directorates of the provincial-level police departments to speed up the implementation of the two key projects, saying that the two projects contribute importantly o the building of e-Government, administrative reforms as well as national socio-economic development.
