Senior Minister To Lam, Minister of Public Security on March 14 had a meeting with Mr. Yasuo Fujita, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam.

Minister Lam highly appreciated Mr. Yasuo Fujita's contributions to development cooperation programs between Vietnam and Japan

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Lam highly appreciated Mr. Yasuo Fujita's contributions to develop cooperation programs between Vietnam and Japan, especially Japan's increasing ODA, which plays an important role in Vietnam's infrastructure development projects, including transport, energy, agriculture and human resources training.

The support of the Government of Japan through the JICA in Vietnam has been of great importance to Vietnam in building and developing the country in recent years, as well as maintaining social stability and economic development, contributing to successfully achieving the country’s goal of industrialization by 2020.

The JICA has also supported the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam in various projects on public security personnel training, and fire fighting and prevention equipment, to name but a few. Additionally, both sides are actively implementing the project “Offering patrol vehicles to the Waterway Police”, and project “Strengthening capacity to ensure cyber security and control cyber-crime”.

The MPS of Vietnam also hopes to further promote cooperation with the JICA in the time to come. Particularly, the MPS of Vietnam wants to promote cooperation with the Japanese side in technical equipment investment projects and exchanges of experts in areas that Japan has experience and areas of mutual interest, contributing to ensuring national security, social order and safety of each country.

Mr. Yasuo Fujita thanked Minister Lam for his kind reception. He said that the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan has seen strong developments in all fields in recent years. He affirmed to continue to make contributions to promoting the cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and JICA.
