Minister To Lam receives Security Minister of Laos

After the reception, the two sides had talks at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam. Speaking at the meeting, Minister Lam appreciated the results of bilateral cooperation between the two Ministries of Public Security in 2016. Particularly, relevant units of the two ministries proactively and regularly conducted exchanges of international and regional issues related to national security, social order and safety in each country.

The red-carpet reception

In the year of 2017, Minister Lam suggested that  both sides seriously implement the agreements reached by senior leaders of the two countries in the new situation, and maintain contacts between leaders of the two Ministries to exchange the situation related to security and order.

Minister Somkeo Silavon sincerely thanked for the good sentiments that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Vietnamese minister offered to the Lao delegation. He also appreciated the strong and reliable political relations between the two countries, as well as the close cooperation and regular and mutual supports in the international arena between the two Ministries of Public Security, contributing to the protection of national interests and security of each country.

The Laos Minister agreed on the 2017 cooperation orientations between the two ministries. At the same time, he wished that, in the coming time, cooperation between the two ministries will continue to develop and achieve more practical results, contributing to maintaining social order and safety and ensuring national security of each country.

Ceremony to award Lao medals

At the end of the talks, Minister Lam and Minister Somkeo Silavong signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOU) for 2017 between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Security of Laos.

Later in the same afternoon, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in collaboration with relevant agencies of Laos solemnly held a ceremony to award Lao medals to various teams and individuals of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, and to present the Honorary Doctorate of the People’s Police Academy to Minister Somkeo Silavong.
