On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security and on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2020, Minister To Lam wished the Ambassador, all officers and employees of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia good health and happiness.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam emphasized, since Vietnam and Malaysia established diplomatic relations in 1973 and a strategic partnership in 2015, the two countries have strengthened their relations and cooperation in various fields.
In terms of national security and defense, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral defense cooperation in 2008 and a cooperation agreement on prevention of transnational crimes in 2015.
The two countries regularly exchange delegations at all levels while sharing information related to prevention of terrorism, cyber-crime and transnational crimes.
Vietnam and Malaysia also expand cooperation in other fields, including education, labor, transportation, culture, tourism, information and communication, maritime operation and fisheries. The two sides coordinate closely and supported each other at regional and international forums, especially those within the frameworks of ASEAN, APEC and the United Nations.
Minister To Lam hailed the embassy's achievements over the past years. He hoped the embassy’s staff would make more efforts to overcome all difficulties and successfully fulfill their diplomatic tasks in Malaysia, contributing to developing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
