Minister To Lam visits and presents gift to policy beneficiary families in Hung Yen

In celebration of 185 years of establishment of the province, 75 years of the establishment of the Provincial Party organization and 20 years of the re-establishment of the province, on December 3rd, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security accompanied by a public security delegation and Hung Yen provincial leaders visited, presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, martyrs’ families, and revolution contributors in Phu Cu district, Hung Yen province.

Minister To Lam visited and handed gist to Dang Thi Bang, aged 98, resident of Tam Da commune, Phu Cu district whose 2 sons are martyrs and one is public security invalid; Dang Thi Thu, aged 71, resident of La Tien hamlet, Nguyen Hoa commune, whose daughter named Dang Dinh Kiem – a revolution officer caught and killed by French colonialists; Dang Lam Thao, aged 81, resident of Thi Giang hamlet, Nguyen Hoa commune, who joined the resistance wars against the French and  American invaders, and was imprisoned in Con Dao. Each person received a present worth of VND 9 million.

At the visited places, Minister To Lam expressed his thanks toward the contributions of the older generations who have devoted and sacrificed the most valuable of theirs for national peace and independence. He also inquired after them, wishing them good health to bring  happiness to their families and descendants.

In the joyful atmospheres, the visited families extended their deep thanks to Minister To Lam and delegates, saying that the sentiment and care reserved by Minister To Lam and delegates for them  was their great honor and a source of encouragement for individuals and families in Hung Yen.

Same day, Minister To Lam and delegations paid floral tribute to the La Tien historical banyan tree and La Tien temple in Nguyen Hoa commune, Phu Cu district.

During their occupation of La Tien (1949 - 1954), the French killed 1,145 soldiers and revolutionaries with brutal tortures.

Today, the La Tien banyan tree has become a symbol of defiance and resilience of Nguyen Hoa commune people in particular and Hung Yen people in general.
