Ministries of Public Security and Foreign Affairs bolster cooperation
PSNews-Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security (MPS) chaired a meeting with the participation of newly appointed Ambassador and Consuls General by the State President to be Heads of Vietnam’s overseas representative agencies in the term 2017-2020.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and other leaders of relevant agencies.
Minister To Lam warmly congratulated the newly appointed diplomatic officials who have been entrusted by the Party, State and people to positions, representing Vietnam in foreign countries in the term of 2017 - 2020.
Over the past time, the MPS has received active and effective cooperation, support and assistance in various aspects from relevant ministries and branches, particularly from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as representative agencies of Vietnam in other countries.
Both forces have cooperated actively, closely and effectively in solving various diplomatic issues of the country, facilitating Vietnam’s comprehensive integration into the world. The Public Security Forces have cooperated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially with Embassies and Consulates General of Vietnam in foreign countries in providing advice to the Party and State on appropriate policies and measures in relations with other countries; in boosting the establishment of "strategic partnership" relations, expansion of cooperation with other countries for mutual benefits, development; and in protecting representative offices of Vietnam and overseas Vietnamese.
The Minister of Public Security expressed his hope that the newly appointed diplomatic officials would continue bolstering cooperation with the MPS, supporting the MPS in enhancing the expansion of cooperative ties with foreign countries’ law enforcement agencies and gradually deepening cooperation for practical and effective outcomes.
Additionally, Minister Lam also asked the senior diplomats to cooperate with the MPS to propose Vietnamese competent agencies to negotiate and approve bilateral and multilateral agreements with international partners to create favorable legal frameworks for international cooperation on prevention and combat against criminal activities.
On behalf of the diplomatic officials, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son thanked the Minister of Public Security for the MPS’s good sentiment, care and support for the Foreign Ministry and Vietnam’s representative agencies in foreign countries. He also stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as overseas representative missions of Vietnam will continue to cooperate effectively and closely with involved units under the MPS in various fields of work, contributing to enhancing foreign relations as well as serving and protecting national security and social order.
