Ministry of Public Security builds houses for poor people in Dien Bien

Senior Colonel Nguyen Hong Nguyen, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), led a delegation on July 14 to attend a ceremony of presenting houses of compassion to poor people in Nam Pa district, Dien Bien province.

The event also saw the presence of local authorities’ representatives and donors.

A new house is presented to a poor family in Nam Tha Le village, Pa Tan commune, Nam Po district.

Nam Po districthas 8 border communes with nearly 60,000 people of 8 ethnic groups. This is a key area in terms of national defense and security. However, the socio-economic situation and people's lives in the district are still extremely difficult. The whole district has 5,809 poor households, of whom many live in shanties.

In order to ease the difficulties of disadvantaged people in Nam Po district, the MPS cooperated with the Vietnam Electricity to launch a social program helping poor people in the locality. The program aims at repairing or building 615 houses with a total cost of up to nearly 30 billion VND for people in need.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Van Luyen, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Po district sincerely thanked the MPS, the Vietnam Electricity, and other donors for building or repairing houses for poor people in Nam Po district, Dien Bien province.

* On this occasion, the MPS’s delegation also surveyed the residential apparment building model for police officers in border communes Na Hy and Cha Nua.
