Ministry of Public Security reviews task performances in Q3 of 2020

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held an online meeting with public security  agencies and local police units on September 28 to review their task performances in the third quarter of 2020.

The event also aimed at reviewing the results of intensive campaigns against crimes and the implementation of Plan No. 105/KH-BCA on mobilizing all people to surrender illegal possessed weapons, explosives and combat gears to the authorities.

The event saw the presence of General To Lam, Member of Politburo, Secretary of Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security, among other members of Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the MPS.

At the meeting, Major General To An Xo, Chief of the MPS’s Office, delivered reports on task performances of the Public Security Forces and results of crime suppression campaigns over the past time, stating that in Q3 of 2020, the forces destroyed 530 criminal gangs, investigated 1,612 gambling cases and arrested 7,685 people involved. During the intensive campaigns, 6,742 criminal cases were successfully investigated, 13,318 subjects were arrested, and 391 criminal groups were destroyed.

Regarding drug-related crimes, the police forces discovered 7,173 cases with 11,018 people involved and seized more than 243kg of heroin, 1,232kg and 630,744 pills of synthetic drugs, and more than 53kg of marijuana. 

Especially, 4,316 drug-related cases were discovered, 6,952 persons involved were arrested, and a large amount of narcotics were seized, including 174.46kg of heroin, 882.07kg and 262,268 pills of synthetic drugs, 7.99kg of marijuana during the intensive campaigns against crimes.

Relevant public security units and agencies have improved the efficiency of their State management over security and order, traffic and fire safety, execution of criminal judgments and legal assistance.

They have inspected 13,491 conditional business establishments and fined 3,018 of them more than VND 6.2 billion for their law violations. Additionally, the Public Security Forces have handled 1,013,146 traffic safety and order violations, including 55,644 alcohol concentration violations, penalized more than VND 916 billion of fine and seized 156,192 vehicles involving offences.

The public security agencies and units also paid due attention to Party and force building. Particularly, professional policemen have been posted to all communes and townships across the country while the organizational apparatus of the public security units at all levels have been consolidated. 

Furthermore, all grassroots-level Party organizations in the Public Security Forces have so far organized their Party congresses. Public security units and agencies have also held many meaningful activities to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the People’s Public Security Forces and 15th “All People Protecting National Security” Festive Day.

With their outstanding achievements, over the past time, 38,355 teams and individuals of the Public Security Forces were praised by authorities at all levels and 369 excellent teams were honored by the MPS’s leadership.

Also at the meeting, Major General To Van Hue, Director of the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order, presented a report on the results of the six-month implementation of Plan No. 105/KH-BCA on mobilizing people to surrender illegally-possessed weapons, explosives and combat gears to the authorities and fight against weapon-related crimes.

Speaking at the event, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS, Minister To Lam spoke highly of the achievements and efforts made by the Public Security Forces across the country over the past time.

He requested the public security agencies and local police units to pay special attention to safeguarding the 13th Party Congress, the 10th National Patriotic Emulation Congress, the National Assembly’s 10th session, and diplomatic events hosted by Vietnam as the Chair of ASEAN in 2020 and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 term.

The Minister, Public Security Forces will launch more intensive campaigns to attack crimes of all kinds in order to ensure security for the upcoming New Year festival.

Minister Lam also asked the specialized agencies under the MPS to complete relevant draft laws as planned so that the MPS can submit them to the National Assembly at the 10th session.

Minister To Lam also asked all public security press, radio and television agencies to disseminate information about the forces’ task performances, good examples of public security officers and soldiers and the people’s supports for the Public Security Forces in maintaining political security, social order and safety.
