Ministry of Public Security sets up Steering Committee for nCoV prevention

On the decision, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son was appointed as Chairman of the Steering Committee for disease prevention and control in the People's Public Security Forces while Major General Nguyen Khac Thuy, Director of Ministry of Public Security’s Health Department was appointed as Standing Deputy Chairman of the steering committee.
A report from the Ministry of Public Security’s Health Department read that the acute pneumonia was caused by a new strain of the Corona virus first broke out in Wuhan, China and quickly spread to all parts of China and a number of countries around the world.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son emphasized that the new and dangerous disease can spread rapidly and there has not yet been a specific vaccine or cure for the deadly disease. Since Vietnam has a long border with China and a large number of people of the two countries traveling across the borderline, the disease is likely to spread in Vietnam.
Therefore, the Deputy Minister requested public agencies and units at all level to strictly follow the directions of the Government and the Ministry of Public Security on prevention and control of the disease, contributing to preventing the nCoV spread and protecting public health, thus maintaining political security, social order and safety.
The Ministry of Public Security’s Health Department should strengthen the dissemination of information on disease prevention to all public security officers and soldiers while directing health facilities of the People's Public Security Forces to prepare medicines, medical equipment and human resources for a possible outbreak of the disease in the country while taking effective preventive measures against the virus.
