PSNews-The Hue ancient capital complex, which is home to 30 different relics with numerous buildings made from wood and is surrounded by pine forests, faces high risks of fire, especially during the hot season.

Therefore, fire prevention at the relics is always given a top priority. According to statistics, over the last 20 years, there have been 7 fire incidents occurring around the Hue imperial complex, mainly in gardens inside monuments. Luckily, all the fire incidents have been controlled on time.

However, in order to ensure safety and enhance fire prevention and fighting, the police force of Thua Thien Hue province has regularly inspected fire prevention work at the relics of Hue monument complex.

Colonel Le Xuan Hoang, Deputy Director of the Hue Fire Prevention and Fighting Division, said: "Fire police in recent inspections of the Citadel Zone, an area with many ancient architectural works, precious objects, antiques and flammable materials, found out many limitations in fire prevention. Although a number of projects are under restoration or renovation, contractors or officials in charge did not submit the designs to the firefighting authority in line with the regulations for approval. In some projects, there were  fire protection equipment and devices but at the time of the inspection the equipment and devices did not work or were too old”.

In order to tackle the problems, the Hue Citadel Conservation Center coordinated with the Thua Thien Hue Fire Prevention and Fighting Police to conduct drills and exercises on fire prevention and fight in order to improve awareness of fire prevention and fire fighting skills for on-site forces. The two units also signed an agreement on coordination in fire safety and rescue in the relic site.

In addition to the city’s relic sites, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police also enhanced inspection of fire prevention and fight work in various hotels, guest houses and business establishments in the area, where tens of thousands of tourists come every day during the high tourist season.

Through inspections, the local relevant force found out that many owners of enterprises were not fully aware of their responsibilities and obligations in fire prevention and fight. Particularly, many hotels or motels violated the regulations of fire prevention and fight, leaving a high risk of fire.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Truong Son, Director of the Thua Thien Hue Fire Prevention and Fighting Police said that the province is home to 462 facilities providing services in accommodation, resorts or medical treatment. These, include 175 hotels, 271 guest houses, 15 tourist sites, located mainly in Hue city and several neighboring districts and towns. Therefore, fire prevention and fight is always considered a top priority in order to protect people’s lives and properties.
