More gratitude paid to national contributors in the heroic Quang Tri

PSNews - On the occasion of the 70th Day for  Wounded and Fallen Soldiers (July 27, 1947 - 2017), a mission of the Public Security Newspaper (CAND Newspaper) and the Vietnam Phoenix Tourism Company recently visited and paid gratitude to national contributors in the heroic land of Quang Tri. 

After a 600-km journey, the mission arrived in Quang Tri province on July 5’s evening and soon started gratitude activities thanks to the help of the provincial police.

On July 6, the mission visited Nguyen Van Hung, a former cipher officer of the former Binh Tri Thien provincial Police Department. Hung is a wounded soldier losing 41% of health in the resistance war against the US imperialists.

He was injured by bomb in a battle near Laos in June 1972 and is now living with his family at Residential area No.3, Ward 5 of Dong Ha City. Due to injure, he has to rely on his wife and children for his daily activities. The mission also visited former public security officer Tran Dinh An, who lost 21% of his health, at Residential area No.8, Ward 5 of Dong Ha City.

Head of the Law & Readers Division of the CAND Newspaper, Colonel Tran Duy Hien and Deputy General Manager of the Vietnam Phoenix Tourism Company Nguyen Son Ha inquired after both wounded soldiers and handed gratitude gifts and VND 1 million to each of them.

In Quang Tri, the mission in collaboration with Quang Tri provincial Police presented eight packs of gifts worth of VND 1 million each to eight wounded soldiers and policy beneficiary families.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Phoenix Tourism Company presented  gifts with a total value of VND 10 million to 10 needy former wartime youth volunteers in the province.

By mid-day of July 6, the mission arrived at Con Co Island and was welcomed by Deputy Secretary of Con Co district Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council Nguyen Van Thanh.  

On behalf of the mission, Colonel Tran Duy Hien inquired after the islanders and troops on the island and talked about the charitable activities of the CAND Newspaper and donors in celebration of the 70th Day for Wounded and Fallen Soldiers.

"The gifts presented today represent the care of leaders and officers of both the Vietnam Phoenix Tourism Company and the CAND Newspaper. We hope that the islanders and troops on the island will continue to overcome hardship to fulfill assigned tasks, contributing to the building and development of the island and the protection of national sovereignty over seas and islands",  said Colonel Tran Duy Hien.

During the trip to Con Co Island, the mission also presented 10 packs of gifts to 10 youth volunteers who came to live on the island in 2002. The Vietnam Phoenix Tourism Company donated VND 100 million for the construction of the road leading to Con Co district’s War Cemetery.

Witnessing the noble activities of the mission, Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Thanh expressed his great appreciation and warmest thanks toward the CAND Newspaper and the Vietnam Phoenix Tourism Company for their care for Con Co Island.
