PSNews - The security camera and security message systems in Sa Dec City (Dong Thap) Province have contributed effectively over the pat time to the local police’s investigation and handling of cases.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Huong, Head of the Investigation Office for Criminal, Economic and Drug-related Crimes under the Sa Dec Municipal Police Sub-Department, the security camera system has helped the police force better manage the area, monitor activities of subjects and get evidence related to criminal cases.

In 2018, the local investigation agency detected 36 cases and arrested 50 involved suspects. Many of the cases were successfully detected and investigated thanks to the data extracted from the security camera system.

In addition to its positive contributions to preventing and fighting against crimes, the security camera system helped control late-night gatherings of teenagers that might cause public disorder and lead to hotspots of social evils.

Another model which has contributed positively to public order and security in Sa Dec is the program "Security messages sent to mobile phones." The project has been carried out by the Tam Nong District Police in coordination with the Viettel Tam Nong Center  since October 2016. Accordingly, the local Viettel mobile network offers free messages on the local security situation to 10,000 local Viettel subscribers per month.

So far, the district police have sent 11 security messages to 19,965 Vietel subscribers, who are local officials, public servants, workers and ordinary people. The message includes information about methods and tricks of crimes, traffic accidents, fire and explosion cases, and good examples in ensuring public order and security. Thereby, local people have provided 51 pieces of valuable information about crimes, social evils, drug cases and traffic violations to the police.

"In the coming time, the district police will continue to maintain the model of sending security messages to mobile phones, and will work with other network operators to send security messages to people", Colonel Vo Van Rem, Deputy Head of the Tam Nong District Police Station said.
