No COVID-19 case recorded at detention facilities

Major General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security (MPS), on March 2, led a delegation of the MPS to work with the Police Department of Management of Prison, Compulsory Re-education Center and Reformatory and the Police Department of Custody, Temporary Detention and Criminal Judgment Execution.

According to reports at the meeting, all detention facilities have successfully prevented ensured the COVID-19 pandemic; as a result, no case of COVID-19 has so far been recorded.

At the meeting, representatives of the two departments briefed the deputy minister and delegates on the COVID-19 prevention measures and   their implementation of projects to upgrade and build new detention facilities.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung asked the two departmentsto coordinate with functional units of the Ministry of Health, the MPS and local authorities to ensure health safety of both police force and detainees and inmates and accelerate construction projects. He said, all officers must strictly observe and follow the COVID-19 prevention regulations.
