Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes holds Party Congress

• Researchers, policemen and businesses discuss approaches to reduce economic crime
• New Deputy Director of Economic Police Department appointed
• Oxford Economics forecast Vietnam’s GDP to grow 2.3% in 2020

According to reports at the congress, the Party organization of the Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes directed and guided the nationwide economic police force to implemented synchronous professional measures to ensure order and security in economic activities and management over the past time.

 The Party organization also renovated the work of Party and force building, and improved its leadership and combat capacity of its subordinate Party organizations.

Particularly, the Party organization of thePolice Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes directed functional units of the Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes to successfully investigate serious economic cases such as the AVG case, the Nhat Cuong case and the Alibaba Real Estate Joint Stock Company case.

Meanwhile, the economic police force destroyed a lot of major smuggling rings in the provinces of Lang Son, Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai and An Giang. Especially, the force recovered 100% of the lost State assets from the economic cases under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption.

Delegates cast their vote to elect the Party Committee for the new term.

Speaking at the congress, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc highly appreciated the efforts, proactive and innovative spirit of Party members of the Party organization in the last term.

Regarding its key tasks for the next term, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc asked the Party organization of the Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes to improve the effectiveness of political ideological education for all economic police officers. 

He also asked the Party organization of the Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes to actively expand international cooperation in the fight against corruption, economic crime, smuggling, especially transnational crimes involving foreigners and high technologies. 

At the congress, the delegates elected the Party Committee of the Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes for the term 2020-2025 and a delegation to attend the 7th Public Security Party Congress.
