PSNews-On May 19, the Nghe An Waterway Police donated life jackets and life buoys for owners of passenger transporting means at Phuong wharf, Thanh Giang commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province.

Phuoc wharf is an important traffic route between Thanh Giang and Thanh Yen communes of Thanh Chuong district. The number of people travelling across the river via the wharf is always large as people living on the two banks have close relations.

The newly donated life jackets and life buoys will contribute to ensuring safety in the transportation of passengers in the locality.

"I have been carrying passengers at this wharf for 30 years. I myself and passengers are always aware of ensuring safety on waterway. Each waterway passenger is always equipped with a life jacket as well as guided to ensure safety. We know that worn-out life jackets and old life buoys are dangerous but we could not afford to buy new ones. But now, we are very grateful the police force for the new safety devices," Nguyen Van Hoan, resident of Thanh Giang Commune, Thanh Chuong District, a boatman at the wharf.
