Police nationwide asked to prevent illegal entry into Vietnam

The Ministry of Public Security sent an official dispatch to heads of public security units and agencies across the countries on July 27, asking them to launch intensive campaigns to prevent Vietnamese people from illegally exiting and foreigners from illegally entering the country amid the recent complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the official dispatch, since May 1, under the directions of the Ministry of Public Security, public security units and agencies nationwide have taken drastic measures to investigate and prosecute cases with many people involved on charges oforganizing illegal exit from and entry into Vietnam, contributing positively to prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic.

In the official dispatch, the Ministry of Public Security’s leaders recognized and praised the achievements of all public security units and agencies over the past time.

They asked the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security to send the taskforce groups to directly guide local police forces, in close coordination with the Border Guard forces, to increase patrols and checks at border gates, border crossings along the borderlines between Vietnam and other countries in order to promptly prevent illegal entry into and exit from Vietnam.

The department should also guide local police forces to strengthen the management over residence of foreigners in their localities to immediately detect and handle foreigners illegally entering the country in accordance with the laws and regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

The Department of Cyber-security and High-tech Crimes under the Ministry of Public Security should guide public security units and agencies to monitor and handle acts of spreading false information about illegal entry of foreigners into Vietnam and COVID-19 situation, distorting the policies of the Party and the State related to pandemic prevention and control.

Local police forces should advise local authorities to promptly issue guidelines and plans to handle illegally imported COVID-19 cases. They should fully equip their officers and soldiers with combat gears and medical equipment to ensure safety for them when performing their duties.

The local police units should also promote information exchange with their foreign partners to halt people from illegally crossing the borders, contributing to effectively preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam.
