Policemen offer free porridge to over 1000 poor patients in Lao Cai

PSNews – The Van Ban District Police (Lao Cai Province) has recently launched the program “The porridge bowl of love” to offer free meals to more than 1000 poor patients and their relatives. 

This is part of the activities series to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the Lao Cai Provincial Police (August 1947-2017) and mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Van Ban District’s Party Committee (September 27th 1947 – 2017).

Every Tuesday and Friday of September, the youth union organization together with the women union of the Van Ban District Police conducts the humanitarian program “The porridge bowl of love” to provide more than 1000  free porridge bowls to poor patients being treated at Van Ban District General Hospital, and their relatives.

Within the program, the Van Ban District Traffic Police Office and Investigation Police Office also provided law documents on road safety, anti-drugs and anti-human trafficking to patients and their relatives, helping raise public awareness of the related laws.

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thong Nhat – Head of the Van Ban District Police said: “To uphold the spirit of solidarity, the Van Ban District Police hold the program to ease patients’ difficulties and to raise the awareness and responsibility of local police officers and soldiers for the community.”
