Political Protection Department III receives Fatherland Defense Order

PSNews - The General Department of Security (GD 1) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a ceremony on March 9 for its Political Protection Department III to celebrate the 20th founding anniversary and receive the second-class Fatherland Defense Order.

In response to national security threats, the Minister of Home Affairs (now the MPS) decided to found a number of specialized departments under the General Department of Counterintelligence (now the GD 1), including the Political Protection Department III, in 1997.

Through its 20 years of development, generations of cadres and soldiers of the Political Protection Department III have always been absolutely loyal to the Party and the Fatherland and wholeheartedly devoted to the people, overcome numerous difficulties, completed all tasks assigned by the Central Public Security Party Committee and the MPS.

For its outstanding achievements in training, fighting and building the people’s police force; maintaining political security, social order and safety, contributing to the construction of socialism and safeguarding of the Fatherland, the Political Protection Department III has been honored with various noble awards by the Party and State, including the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” in the renewal period, Ho Chi Minh Order, and third-class Feat-of-Arms Order.

Honoring various individuals and teams

On behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee and leaders of the MPS, Minister To Lam acknowledged, praised and congratulated the department on their achievements over the past 20 years.

Minister To Lam asked the Political Protection Department III to improve the effectiveness of its combat coordination with relevant units both inside and outside the General Department of Security; proactively prevent and fight against activities infringing upon the national security.

Authorized by the State President, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam pinned the second-class Fatherland Defense Order onto the department’s flag.
