Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang speaks at the meeting.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that in recent years, countries across the world, including Vietnam, continued to face numerous aviation security issues, particularly civil aviation terrorism, threatening national security and aviation safety.

In this context, Vietnam should establish an in-flight security force to ensure security and safety on direct flights flown by Vietnamese carriers between Vietnam and other countries, creating favorable conditions for the country’s socio-economic development.

The Deputy Minister asked the Steering Committee and the Drafting Team to set the standards for in-flight security officers, then submit the report to the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Minister of Public Security for consideration.

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang also suggested the Ministry of Transport's leaders instruct itsfunctional units to coordinate with the Department of Immigration under the Ministry of Public Security in building the project as well as to actively advise leaders of the two ministries to issue a set of cooperation regulations between the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Transport on deploying the in-flight security force.
