Public Security Communications and Information Department rolls out working plan for 2021

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, attended and delivered a keynote speech at a meeting hosted by the Public Security Communications and Information Department on December 23.

At the meeting, the department reviewed the task performance of the public security media and press sector in 2020 and rolled out a working plan for the sector in next year.

Reportedly, in 2020 the public security television, radio press agencies have broadcasted and published 446 articles and reports effectively countering false information and wrong views from hostile and reactionary forces. They also made dozens of documentaries and video reports under the direction of the ministry’s leadership to show on at meetings, seminars, and major celebrations of the Public Security Forces.

Under the authority of the Prime Minister, Minister To Lam awards the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to the department for its contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The department also focused on reflecting the good results of the Party Congresses of public security units at all levels, the 7th Public Security Party Congress, the 75th founding anniversary of the Public Security Forces, and the 15th “All People Protecting National Security” Festive Day, contributing to beautifying the image of the public security officer in the hearts of the people.

The public security media and press sector also produced 4,686 news articles and broadcasts (2,000 more than that of 2019) to popularize the achievements of the forces in the fight against crimes, the efforts of public security officers and soldiers in overcoming all difficulties,  fulfilling their assigned tasks, as well as to reflect good examples in the movement “All people protect the national security”.

The sector also intensified the dissemination of the participation of the Public Security Forces in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, conducting rescue and search missions, and helping people overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam suggested that, in 2021, the department should attach much importance to Party and force building work.

Particularly, it should continue to streamline its organization for more efficiency and effectiveness while enhancing the capacity of public security reporters and editors and improving their knowledge of politics, professional expertise, and moral virtues.
