Public Security Forces review task performance in August 2020

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security, chaired a meeting on August 25 to review the task performance of the Public Security Forces in August 2020 and roll out a working plan for the next month.

At the meeting, Major General To An Xo, Chief of the MPS Office, presented a report on the results of the task performance of the forces in August.

During the month, the Public Security Forces have successfully investigated 3,379 cases of violating social order and arrested 6,594 people involved. They also destroyed 195 criminal gangs.

The police forces focused on fighting smuggling, trade fraud, production and trading of counterfeit goods, and drug-related crimes on key routes and border areas; as a result, many large transnational drug trafficking rings were destroyed.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS, Minister To Lam praised the achievements of the Public Security Forces over the past time.

Regarding the forces’ missions in the coming time, Minister To Lam requested all public security units and agencies to work out plans to ensure absolute security and safety for activities celebrating the upcoming National Independence Day (September 2) as well national and international events within the framework of ASEAN Year2020 and AIPA-41.

The forces should speed up the investigation of corruption cases and promptly prosecute involved offenders. They should also improve the efficiency of State management over social order and safety and residence of foreigners in Vietnam while strengthening the management of conditional business lines, weapons, and explosives.

The Minister urged all public security units and agencies nationwide to implement Directive No.05 dated June 19, 2020 on strengthening the district-level police force to meet the requirements of ensuring security in the new situation, Plan No. 376 dated November 1, 2019 on rearranging public security personnel at all levels and reinforcing the commune-level police force.

Furthermore, the Public Security Forces should join the common efforts to realize the e-Government project and increase digital transformation in the forces. The MPS should early launch its Public Service Portal and coordinate with the Governmental Office to announce the list of public services provided online by the Public Security Forces on the Governmental Public Service Portal.

All public security units and agencies should complete the organization of their Party congresses and participate actively in preparing for the 7th Public Security Party Congress for 2020 – 2025 term.

Minister To Lam also emphasized the need to strictly follow directions of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, the Government, the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee for Pandemic Prevention and the Minister of Public Security on COVID-19 prevention and control.
