Public Security Newspaper-funded rice ATM supports people in Long An
The People’s Committee of Can Giuoc district, Long An, on May 3 inaugurated a rice ATM in Dong Thanh commune to help local people overcome difficulties caused by COVID-19 pandemic and saltwater intrusion.

The event saw the presence of Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, local authorities and donors.
Senior Colonel Tran Kim Tham, Vice Director of the Public Security Department of Information and Communications, Managing Editor of Public Security Newspaper (PSN), attended the event.
A representative of the Can Giuoc district charity fund said that the lower region of the district and a part of Can Duoc district are rated as poor areas of Long An. There have been three rice distribution points to support local households and workers in need.
To date, some 20 tons of rice have been allocated to poor families and workers in Dong Thanh commune.
Recently, the CAND Newspaper called on donors to install the rice ATM in the area.
Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Tran Kim Tham expressed his thanks to the donors for their support for the poor in the locality.
He added that under the direction of the government and the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, the PSNwes has joined hands with various localities and organizations to support people in areas hit by the pandemic and drought.
The PSNews last week coordinated with donors to open a rice ATM in Ward 1, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City, home to a large number of Cham people.
Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Chairman of the Can Giuoc People’s Committee thanked the PSNews and donors for their supports and added that some 17,000 households, particularly poor families and policy beneficiaries, in the locality have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and drought in the past few months.
