Public Security Newspaper receives 1st class Fatherland Protection Order

PSNews – The General Department of Politics of the Public Security Forces celebrated the 70th anniversary to mark the first issue of the Cong An Nhan Dan (CAND) on October 26 at the Viet-Xo Cultural Palace.

At the grand celebration, the newspaper also received the first-class Fatherland Protection Order conferred on by the State President for its great achievements over the past years.

The event was attended by Mr. Truong Hoa Binh, Member of Politburo, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security; Vu Khoan, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Member of Party Central Committee, General Director of Vietnam News Agency; Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Member of Party Central Committee, Vice Minister of Public Security.

A number of other former and incumbent leaders of Ministries, central branches and agencies, local authorities, representatives of Public Security units and the newspaper’s reporters and editors of all generations were also present at the ceremony.

Addressing the event, Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of the CAND Newspaper recalled the 70-year proud history of the foundation and development of the Newspaper. The first issue of CAND Newspaper was introduced to the Public Security Forces on November 1 1946.

Alongside well performing its core missions of popularizing Party guidelines and State policies, and disseminating information across the force and later to the public, the CAND Newspaper carries out charitable activities, during its 70-year history.

For instance,to mark its 70th Traditional Day, over 100 houses of gratitude and charity have been built and presented to public security officers and people with housing difficulties. Over the last 20 years, of the newspaper has raised VND 150 billion for charitable activities across the country.

To conclude, General Mien thanked the Party, State and the Ministry of Public Security for their sound and timely guidance and instructions to the newspaper as well as expressed gratitude to local Party committees and authorities for their effective cooperation and support for the newspaper over the past years. 

On behalf of all reporters and editors of the newspaper, he promised to closely follow Party resolutions and guidelines, State policies and the ministry’s instructions in order to gain more success in the future.

Speaking at the event, Minister To Lam acknowledged and praised the achievements recorded by the CAND Newspaper over the past decades. The Minister asked all staff of the Newspaper to continuously study Party resolutions, State policies and laws, and follow “Uncle Ho’s 6 Teachings”; proactively and effectively disseminate and fight against the “peaceful evolution” strategy and attempts of hostile forces.
