Public Security Newspaper's delegation pays tribute to heroic martyrs in Quang Tri

PSNews - A delegation of the Public Security Newspaper, led by its Editor-in-Chief, Major General Pham Van Mien on April 14 paid tribute to martyrs in Quang Tri province on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Southern Vietnam's liberation and the Reunification Day.

The event took place during visits of the Public Security Newspaper to the two central provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Southern Vietnam's liberation and the Reunification Day.

A delegation of the Public Security Newspaper, led by its Editor-in-Chief, Major General Pham Van Mien on April 14 paid tribute to martyrs in Quang Tri province on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Southern Vietnam's liberation and the Reunification Day.

The delegation, consisting of 100 officers and staff members of the Public Security Newspaper, visited and laid flowery wreaths and offered incense to martyrs at the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery and Road No.9 National Martyrs' Cemetery.

On the same day, the delegation also visited and paid tribute to heroic martyrs at the Ancient Citadel of Quang Tri, located on the Thach Han riverbank.

The Ancient Citadel of Quang Tri witnessed fierce fights of Vietnamese revolutionary forces to protect the citadel and Quang Tri township in 1972. Thousands of soldiers and people laid down their lives during the 81-day campaign at the citadel and in Quang Tri township in the war against American invaders.

After the incense offering ceremony at the Ancient Citadel of Quang Tri, the delegation visited the historical Hien Luong Bridge across the Ben Hai River, which used to be a line of demarcation between North and South Vietnam on the 17th parallel during the war in Vietnam.

The war has passed for decades but the bridge is still there, serving as a symbol of the everlasting desire of the Vietnamese people for peace, independence and freedom.
