Quang Tri police officers deployed to support people in flooded areas

PSNews – Heavy downpours over the past days have made many localities of Quang Tri province deeply inundated. In order to ensure safety for the local people, hundreds of police officers have been mobilized to evacuate people from flooded areas to safe places.

Torrential rains have hit the Central provinces since October 6, with the highest rainfall of 700-900mm recorded, causing severe floods, and made 11 people dead as of October 9’s morning.

Many places in Quang Tri Province are experiencing their worst flood in a decade. Heavy downpours are forecast to continue in the coming days, posing a high risk of flash floods, landslides, and rising waters in many places, especially Huong Hoa, Dak Rong, Hai Lang, and Trieu Phong districts in Quang Tri.

Against this backdrop, hundreds of police officers since October 6 have been mobilized for rescue missions during the rains, flooding and landslides, as well as for supporting local people in overcoming the consequences.

The floods have also caused serious damages to public facilities and roads. Against this backdrop,the Quang Tri police officer decided to use canoes and motorboats to carry local people out of the flooded areas.
