Security General Department and SCOV review 10 years of coordination

Since the cooperation agreement deployed 10 years ago, the Security General Department and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs  has advised, studied and implemented a number of policies and rules related to overseas Vietnamese.

More than 50 events and activities have been organized in the past 10 years for overseas Vietnamese. Especially, the Security General Department in association with relevant agencies and organizations held charitable activities, such as offering gifts to poor people at home, as well as lobbied foreign countries for supporting life and work of overseas Vietnamese communities in the countries.

Speaking at the event, on behalf of leaders of the two ministries, Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair Vu Hong Nam highly appreciated the results of the cooperation between the Security General Department and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs over the last 10 years.

They both acknowledged that the achievements have significantly contributed to protecting national security and implementing the foreign policy of Vietnam’s Party and State in the past years.

The two deputy ministers required the Security General Department and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs to strengthen their coordination and information exchange, and continue to implement the coordination agreement.

Besides, both units should promote their role in giving good advice to the Party and State on issues related to oversea Vietnamese; continue to disseminate State policies and laws; ensure security for activities and annual events held by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.

The two deputy ministers also hoped the two units would continue to effectively collaborate together and with others relevant ministries and branches to create the most favorable conditions for the community of overseas Vietnamese.

At the conference, Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam awarded the medal "National Security Protection" for officers and leaders of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs while Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs presented the medals "For The Cause of Overseas Vietnamese" for outstanding officers and leaders of the Security General Department.
