In order to further control criminal activities, Long An Provincial Department of Public Security implemented “security and order surveillance cameras” in the province in April 2016.

Camera systems have been installed in various traffic areas or residential areas of complicated security and order situations. Particularly, Can Duoc, Can Giuoc districts and Tan An city have nearly 100% of their communes and towns deployed with surveillance camera systems.

Other districts have yet to install full surveillance system due to insufficient funding.

Currently, 70/192 communes and towns of Long An have managed to deploy surveillance cameras in public sites, crossroads, especially in gathering places of gangs or complicated traffic routes.

To date, 427 stations and 1,014 camera have been installed, equivalent to VND 8 billion, mostly from community donations.

The authorities have succeeded in encouraging agencies or businesses and households to have their own surveillance systems.
