Seminar on Vietnam’s cooperation with UN human rights mechanisms

The Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Public Security held a seminar themed “UN Human Rights Mechanisms: Vietnam’s cooperation orientation”, in Hoa Binh on April 16.

Reports on various topics, representatives from relevant ministries, agencies and institutes of Vietnam and the UN gave participants an insight into the UN human rights mechanism and Vietnam’s participation in international human rights mechanisms, the role of the Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights on promoting and protecting human rights. Participants also listened to main themes of the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and responsibility of member countries.
The delegates then discussed various directions for cooperation with UN bodies on human rights in the time to come.
