PSNews – President Tran Dai Quang took the oath of office on April 2, 2016, following the approval of the National Assembly. Prior to that, President Tran Dai Quang was the Minister of Public Security from 2011 to 2016. During holding the position of Minister of Public Security, he made great contributions to the building of the People’s Public Security Forces.

The image was taken on May 4, 2015 when General Tran Dai Quang, member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security and a delegation came to Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi to inquire after and present gifts to 2 officers of the Hanoi Municipal Road and Railway Traffic Division who were injured while performing their duty. Such a visit showed the care of the minister for every officer of the Public Security Forces as well as his sympathy for their hardships and sacrifices in the struggle against criminals for people’s peaceful life.

Residents of Minh Hung Commune (Chon Thanh District, Binh Phuoc) were shocked at a murder case that caused 6 people dead on July 7, 2015 in Quoc Anh Wood Manufacturer. On the next day, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang arrived at the scene and directed involved police forces in investigating the case. He also visited and extended deep condolences to relatives of the victims. With his sound leadership, the police force shortly found and arrested the murderer.

Also in July 2015, another murder happened in Tuong Duong District, Nghe An. As Vi Van Hai, the murderer, killed 4 people brutally, the case made the public so worried and concerned. Minister Tran Dai Quang once again came to the scene and directly led the investigation. The case was successfully finished as the murderer was arrested after a while, which relieved the anxiety of the people across the country .

In December 2015, General Tran Dai Quang, member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security, and Head of the Central Highlands’ Steering Committee visited and presented gift to needy people in 2 villages Pan Lam and Ko Sier of Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak, during his working trip to the Central Highlands. At the meeting, he stressed that the Party and State had issued may special policies to support socio-economic development, defense and security as well as to improve the living standard of ethnic minority people in the Central Highlands.

On the Lunar New Year Eve of 2016 (February 7, 2016), tens of thousands of Hanoians flocked to Hoan Kiem lake to watch fireworks and celebrate the New Year. General Tran Dai Quang, Minister of Public Security, came to the central city to encourage police officers and soldiers on duty.

Minister Tran Dai Quang always took special care for wounded soldiers, martyrs’ families, policy beneficiaries and national contributors. During a working trip to Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City on July 22, 2015, Minister Tran Dai Quang and the working delegation also came to Binh Thanh Hamlet, Binh Khanh Commune, Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City to pay tribute to heroic martyr Nguyen Van Ai, former police officer of Duyen Hai District (known as Can Gio District). He bravely sacrificed when chasing a reactionary in September 1977.

General Tran Dai Quang visited Vinh Nghiem Temple, Ho Chi Minh City on July 27, 2015 and attended a memorial ceremony paying tribute to 64 Gac Ma heroic martyrs.

Regarding the foreign affairs, Minister Tran Dai Quang’s overseas working trips always brought about fruitful results, contributing to criminal prevention cooperation with other countries in the world. Minister Tran Dai Quang on June 24 and 25, 2015 attended the 6th Conference of High-Level Security Officials in Ulan-Ude, Russia. At the conference, Minister Tran Dai Quang delivered a speech on “Strengthening international cooperation in combating terrorism and extremist activities.’’

On March 2015, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang paid an official visit to the United States to further promote the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, and mark the 20th anniversary of the normalization of US-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
