The Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security on August 26 and 27 held a safe driving contest to evaluate traffic police officers’ knowledge of road traffic laws, driving skills and ability to handle traffic-related situations.
The competition, taking place at the driver training and testing center in Kim Bang district, Ha Nam province, saw the participation of 245 traffic police officers in 62 teams representing traffic police divisions of cities, provinces and agencies of the Traffic Police Department.
The competition consisted of two parts: theory and practice. In the theory test, competitors did multiple choice questions on computers. Meanwhile, they drove vehicles on roads of difficult terrains, requiring them of good driving skills.
Major General Tran Quoc Trung, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department said the competition was held to check traffic police officers’ knowledge of road traffic laws, driving skills and ability to handle traffic-related situations.
He said, each traffic police officer must be exemplary in observing the laws, particularly traffic ones, and able to handle the most complex traffic issues and situations.
