Traffic police saved woman attempting suicide on Chuong Duong bridge

Received information of a woman about to jump into Red River and drifted into the bridge abutment, 2 traffic polices and Chuong Duong Bridge (Hanoi) guards has used a rescue boat to save her. 40-year-old victim luckily survived. 

Around 11.00 am 18th September, when 2 officers of team No.5 Hanoi traffic police were on duty at Chuong Duong Bridge boots (Long Bien district), they were informed by local people about a woman diving into Red river in the same area.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dinh Anh said they found a woman has just jumped into the river when observing around Chuong Duong Bridge area.

Immediately, senior lieutenant Dinh Anh and lieutenant Nguyen Van Duc with local guards decided to use a boat to reach the place where the victim stranded. The woman was trying to swim with a panicked face and started crying right when she see the rescuing team.

After a few minutes of convincing, the rescuing team took the woman to the traffic booth and tried to contact her family.

Half an hour later, Mr. Vu Thanh Lan (in Dong Da district, Hanoi), victim’s father arrived at the scenes with some relatives.

Mr. Lan said, on the same day, his daughter Mrs. Vu Thi Kim (40) quarreled with her husband. His daughter was being chased and abused by her husband which led to the point that she decided to leave.

"This afternoon, while the whole family were extremely worry looking for Kim as no one could contact her, the traffic police suddenly phoned to inform about her situation,". Mr. Lan also said his daughter has 4 children.

After 1 hour of convincing and confiding with both family and police, Kim finally calmed down, agree to come back home with her family.
