Vessel SAR 274 successfully rescues 3 fishermen in distress

PSNews- Receiving information about a fishing boat of Da Nang in distress, vessel SAR 274 of Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Center 2 (Center 2) immediately headed for the co-ordinate.  After more than 16 hours operating actively, vessel SAR 274 reached the distressed trawler and successfully towed the trawler and took the fishermen on board ashore safely.

On November 21st, boat DNa 90796 owned and captained by Le Thanh Cuong (resident of Thanh Khe district, Da Nang) with two crewmen on board broke its engine and went adrift while fishing in the Western area of the Paracel Islands.

The crewmen on board did their utmost but they failed to fix the engine and water continued filling the boat. As the boat was in danger of sinking, the fishermen sent a mayday signal but then it completely lost communications.

Fortunately, the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Center 2 received the distressed fishermen’s mayday signal and assigned vessel SAR 274 stayed in Da Nang to the rescue mission.

At 7.05 pm, vessel SAR 274 approached fishing trawler DNa 90796 and took the distressed fishermen to the ship and gave them medication. They then fixed holes in the trawler to prevent water from coming in, and towed it ashore..

At 8 am November 22nd, vessel SAR 274 successfully took boat DNs 90796 and 3 fishermen back to Danang.
