Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security received a delegation of the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Human Rights, led by Chairman Pier Antonio Panzeri, on February 23rd afternoon, in Hanoi.  

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam expressed his delight at fine developments in diplomatic relations between Vietnam and EU. In particular, the two sides have finished the negotiation process for a Free Trade Agreement. 

Besides, the official enforcement of the Vietnam-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation (PCA), which was in effect in October 2016, has created an important legal framework for the two sides to deepen their relations.

He also believed that EU with its large potential can provide significant assistance for Vietnam to deal with strategic security challenges in Asia, such as transnational crimes and human trafficking crimes.

The Vietnamese Government see human trafficking crime prevention as an important political task. Therefore, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will exert all-out effort and cooperate closely with its bordering countries and international organizations to prevent that kind of crime and promptly support the victims.

Mr. Pier Antonio Panzeri thanked Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam for the warm reception, and highly appreciated socio-economic achievements of Vietnam in recent time.

He stressed that, in the coming time, EU will promote cooperation with Vietnam and support Vietnam to reach the United Nations sustainable development goals, strengthening the friendly good relationship between Vietnam and EU.
