Vietnam, Laos step up security cooperation

PSNews - Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith on July 16 received Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam and his entourage, who is in Laos for the 10th Vietnam - Laos security cooperation conference.

At the reception, Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his delight at the good cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Security of Laos, which has contributed significantly to maintaining political stability and security of each country as well as to the Vietnam-Laos special relations.

Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith urged the two ministries to step up cooperation in all fields, especially in cyber security, and fight against terrorism and drug-related crimes. He also asked the two ministries to further cooperate in human resource training.

Earlier, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam and the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam paid a courtesy call to Lao Security Minister Vilay Lakhamphong and attended the 10th Vietnam - Laos security cooperation conference.

At the conference, the two sides exchanged information the crime situation in each country and shared experience in ensuring national security. They also proposed a number of ideas to boost security cooperation in a more effective manner and for better results, contributing to maintaining stable political security in each country.

The two sides also agreed to further cooperate in the fight against activities of hostile forces and in ensuring security of areas along the Vietnam - Laos border.
