Vietnam, Netherlands strengthen cooperation in crime prevention and combat

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security on November 21 received Ms. Elsbeth Akkerman, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh thanked the Dutch Government for their active support for Vietnam in general and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in particular. 

Especially, the Dutch side often coordinates with the Vietnamese side in organizing capacity building programs for Vietnamese police officers. 

These include the Cooperation Program on the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (UNCAT). The two sides alsoregularly exchangeinformation and experience in the field of crime prevention and fight.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanhwished that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to enhance information exchange, promote cooperation in opening trainingcourses and sharing experience in ensuring network security, preventing and combating hi-tech crime, thus contributing to creating a safe environment in cyberspace.

Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman appreciated the trustworthy and good relationship as well as the effective cooperation and mutual support at multilateral forums.

The Dutch Ambassador extendedher congratulations to the Vietnamese Government in general and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in particular on their achievements over the past years.

Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman affirmed her support for the cooperation between the two countriesas well as between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Securityand the relevant Dutch law enforcementagencies, thereby contributing to firmly ensuring the national security of each country for the benefits of each nation.
