Vietnam and Czech agree to promote cooperation on crime prevention

PSNews - General To Lam, Minister of Vietnamese Public Security on September 30, hosted an official receptionin Hanoi for Mr. Jan Hamacek, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior who is leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic to pay a working visit to Vietnam. 

After the reception, the two sides had talks.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam affirmed that since the establishment of their diplomatic relations 70 years ago, Vietnam and Czech Republic have constantly strengthened and developed their traditional friendship and cooperation in many fields, including politics, economics, trade, investment, culture and education. 

The Vietnamese Minister proposed Mr. Jan Hamacek, with his important role in the Czech Government, to continue paying attention to promoting the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Czech Republic in various fields in the coming time.

The Minister also hoped that the Czech Government will support Vietnam at international forums, assistVietnam in successfully fulfilling its duties as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the period of 2020 – 2021, create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Czech to serve as a bridge between the two peoples.

Minister To Lam affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam attaches great importance to the visit of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, saying that this made an important milestone in the cooperation between the two ministries in particular and between the two countries in general in the field of security, contributing to promoting the traditional friendship between the nations.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic Jan Hamacek thanked Minister To Lam and other leaders of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for the reception and spoke highly of the traditional friendship between the two countries over the past time. 

He hoped that the cooperation between the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will develop in a practical effective manner, especially in the field of crime prevention and control.

Regarding orientations for future cooperation, the two sides agreed to continue promoting information exchange and experience sharing in prevention and control of crimes, especially drug-related crime, organized crime, terrorism, high-tech crime andsmuggling. 

The two sides would also enhance exchange of delegations at all levels, and  support each other in investigating cases involving citizens of the two countries, arresting fugitives and verifying criminal information requested by each side in accordance with their current laws and international law. 

Particularly, both two sides stated that they would not allow any organizations or individuals to use the territory of one country to conduct activities against the other while ensuring legitimate rights and interests of citizens and representative agencies of one country in the other territory, and ensuring safety and security for high-ranking leaders of one country during their visits to the other.
