Vietnam and Germany strengthen security cooperation

In the afternoon of October 12, on the occasion of visiting Vietnam, Secretary of State to the German Federal Foreign Office Markus Ederer committed to promote security cooperation between the two countries while receiving Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General To Lam.
At the meeting, Minister To Lam and State Secretary Markus Ederer  shared the view of Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership in general and the positive results of security cooperation in particular.

Minister To Lam confirmed that, Germany takes an important role in connecting Vietnam and European Union (EU) cooperation. Especially, the two countries made a model of security cooperation in the field of the resending illegally Vietnamese in Europe. Besides, the two ministries also had a lot of cooperation and close coordination in other fields.

State Secretary Markus Ederer thanks for the reception of Minister To Lam and committed to try his best to facilitate the corporation development of the two security forces.

Germany will strengthen the comprehensive relations between Vietnam and EU, promote the close collaboration and coordination with Vietnam at the multilateral forums and international organizations, according to State Secretary Markus Ederer.

Regarding the East Sea issues, State Secretary Markus Ederer said, Germany reiterated its support to resolve all the disputes by peaceful means, respecting for international law including the Convention of the United Nations Law of the Sea in 1982 and disagreement unilateral actions which complicate the situation in the East Sea.
