The Department of Fire Fighting Police  under the Ministry of Public Security held a workshop on March 23 on training of fire-fighting skills in schools and educational units.

According to the fire-fighting police force's statistics, in the past 5 years, about 10,000 fires have occurred in Vietnam, killing and injuring more than 200 people. As estimated, the property loss has totaled about VND 1,000 billion.

Major General Doan Manh Viet, Director of the Department of Fire Fighting Police clearly stated that current dissemination of fire-fighting knowledge has not met the requirements.

Specially, young people, students as well as pupils still do not really understand the importance of training fire prevention skills.

Therefore, educating and drilling fire prevention skills for all students and pupils at all-levels is considered the most effective solution. The trained students and pupils will play the core role in preventing and fighting fire.

At the workshop, delegates provided significant ideas on boosting cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education and Training with the aims of unifying training programs, and building practice plans for students and pupils of all school-levels.
