Young police officer shot while chasing drug-trafficker

A young police officer of the Moc Chau District Police, Son La province was seriously wounded due to gunshots while he was trying to arrest a drug-related criminal.

Manh has emerged from the most critical state but is still receiving intensive care at the Moc Chau District Hospital.

The young police officer was Lieutenant Kieu Van Manh. According to doctors, he has emerged from the most critical state but is still receiving intensive care at the Moc Chau District Hospital.

Lieutenant Manh was shot on February 12 by Vang A Do (35, residing in Co Sung village, Dong Sang commune, Moc Chau district) while his team was trying to arrest the man, caught in red with a large quantity of drugs.

While running away, Vang A Do used his gun to fire several times at the chasing policemen.

Although Vang A Do failed to escape and was later arrested by the police team, e Lieutenant Manh was shot and taken to hospital.

On February 12, the Son La Provincial Police  Directorate and the Moc Chau District Party Committee, People Council and People Committee visited and encouraged Lieutenant Manh.

The case is still further investigated by the local police.
