Youths of Fire Prevention and Fighting University organize 2017 “Green Summer” voluntary campaign

PSNews-The Youth Union Chapter of the Fire Prevention and Fighting University organized the 2017 “Green Summer” voluntary campaign in Lap Chieng commune, Kim Boi district, Hoa Binh province from July 25 to August 6.

Lap Chieng, a poor commune of Kim Boi district, is home to various ethnic people, whose incomes mainly come from agriculture, and people there face many difficulties in socio-economic conditions and infrastructure.

During the voluntary campaign, the Youth Union Chapter of the university cooperated with Youth Union chapters of Kim Boi and Lap Chieng to organize various meaningful activities, including visiting and presenting gifts to 25 policy families and 6 needy households, planting 200 grapefruit trees for 3 policy families, making a 50m concrete road leading to the home of an elderly with special difficulties; participating in a candle lighting ceremony at the Martyrs’ Cemetery of Kim Boi on July 26; and holding an art exchange on the 70th Vietnam’s Day of Martyrs and Invalids in Lap Chieng commune.

Presenting gifts and scholarships to poor students with high academic performance

Additionally, the delegation also helped local needy families; dredged 1.5 km of canals and renovated 3km of inter-village roads; and successfully organized a Sports Festival for children with many traditional games. They also organized 50 tutorial classes in Math, Physics, Chemistry, English and Martial Arts for elementary and secondary school students as well as gave dissemination and instruction on fire prevention and fighting skills and drowning prevention for local people.

In addition, to encourage students to attend school, the voluntary group offered scholarships to 30 poor students with excellent academic performance, presented 400 notebooks, a drum kit, 2 sets of swings to the elementary and secondary school of the commune. The total value of gifts for the people in the program was up to VND 60 million.
