Youths of Soc Trang Police join hand to keep hometown's river clean
PSNews - Carrying out the Summer Volunteer Campaign and promoting to the Action month for Environment Protection 2018, the Youths of Soc Trang Provincial Police in collaboration with the Youths of Zone 9 Military School kicked off activities to clean their homtown's river in Ward 6, Soc Trang city, on June 18.
As planned, the volunteer team cleaned up duckweed, plastic bottles and other trash as well as filter the canal 30-4 in the area of Ward 6. The team also made piles and used string to connect along 1,000 meters of the canal, with the aim of avoiding the growth of duckweed in the coming time.
Captain Dang Van Phuong, Secretary of Soc Trang Police said: "The canal 30-4 in Ward 6 has a high density of duckweed, hindering the flow and circulation of local people. Therefore, we planned to carry out this campaign, aiming to keep this canal clean so as to create favourable condition for local people's transportation".
Additionally, the Youths of Soc Trang Police and the Zone 9 Military School provided local people more information about environmental protection, urging people to break the habit of using plastic products and nylon bags, to stop littering as well as to regularly clean up channels and ponds.
