PSNews-Cyber attacks on carriers of Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airlines in July 2016 were named by reporters of the ICT Press Club the most “outstanding” ICT event in 2016.

The Viet Nam Information Technology Press Club announced the top ten domestic information and communication technology (ICT) events of 2016, of which the 1st place went to cyber attacks on servers of airports and Vietnam Airlines.

Cyber attacks on Vietnam's airports ranked 1st among the most outstanding ICT events

Cyber attacks on major banks in Vietnam also made their way to the top 10 list, particularly the case, in which TPBank had almost been cheated by international hackers out of $1.13 million via hacking. Fortunately, TPBank had then detected the deceit in time and promptly contact relevant agencies to stop the hackers.

4G officially launched in Vietnam

A customer of Vietcombank discovered VND 500 million (over $22,000) “automatically” transferred from her account to another. The Bank’s representative then told reporters that the customer’s account might have been hacked, and the hackers had drawn the money from the account via the internet banking mode.

The cyber attacks have shown that hackers are turning their attention to banks and bank clients with little experience in protecting their personal information.
