Nearly 400 scientists attends conference on nuclear technology

PSNews - Almost 400 scientists and experts in atomic energy application from Vietnam and worldwide attended the 12th National Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology, held on August 2 in Nha Trang city (Khanh Hoa province).

Among them were more than 40 professors, scientists and international researchers from countries with advanced nuclear science-technology such as Russia, Japan, USA, UK, France, South Korea, Netherlands, India, Singapore and Czech Republic.

The conference also saw the participation of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

At the event.

Of the total 235 reports, 135 reports are heard at 6 professional committees while 79 others are released on noticeboards. The 6 remaining reports are presented by international experts from IAEA, the Czech Republic and Vietnam at the seminar: "The application of nuclear techniques in industry, agriculture and health."

President of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute Tran Chi Thanh said that the application of atomic energy has been formed and developed in Vietnam over the past 40 years, contributing significantly to the country’s socio-economic development.

He added that Vietnam's atomic energy sector is focusing on preparing human resources for a nuclear science and technology center and for future nuclear power development, while promoting advanced techniques for nuclear power application.

The 12th Vietnam Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology is jointly held by the Vietnam Atomic Energy Society, Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute and Khanh Hoa provincial Department of Science and Technology from August 2 to 4.

 The conference is held every two years from 1996. The conference is a significant scientific event for Vietnam to boost research and application of atomic energy in various sectors, for peaceful purposes.
