NhaTrang Observatory Station to be operational in March 2017

PSNews - Director of the Vietnam National Satellite Centre Pham Anh Tuan stated on January 18th that the NhaTrang Observatory Station will put in operation in March 2017. He released the information at a conference to review its work in 2016, and deploy a plan for 2017.   

Accordingly, the center has established a function office to run the NhaTrang Observatory Station and to promote development of science and technology in general and astronomy knowledge for people in Central and Southern provinces.

The Nha Trang Observatory Station includes a planetarium dome covering 343 sq.m.,which is used to conduct basic research projects on optical astrophysics and disseminate cosmic knowledge to the community; teach and train human resources in astrophysics and the universe; and collaborate with foreign and Vietnamese organizations in researching and training.

The Nha Trang Observatory Station with a huge planetarium can serve a large number of visitors. The National Satellite Center has planned to add the station to the tours to the coastal Central city of Nha Trang.

Mr Pham Anh Tuan stressed, in 2016, the centre actively constructed and completed the Universe Museum with modern equipment, meeting the regional standards while still preserving Vietnamese traditional features. The center is expected to promote and introduce the importance of space science and technology to people, especially the young generation.

Meanwhile, the museum will tell stories about history of the universe and space science as well ashighlight Vietnam's efforts and advancements in space technology.

It will exhibit universe models, satellites, research projects, scientific inventions and meteorites. It is scheduled to open in 2018 and to connect the observatory station to planetarium dome to best serve visitors
