PSNews – The Business Software Alliance (BSA) on June 12 announced its 2018 global software survey.

Vietnam sees gradual decline in software’s copyright violations

According to the report from BSA, the rate of software copyright violation in Vietnam saw consecutive declines from 85%, 83% to 81% in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013 respectively. The percentage in 2017 was 74%, a fall of 4% compared with that in 2016.

Speaking at the event, Pham Cao Thai, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that the rate of violation of software copyrights in Vietnam fell 4% between 2016 and 2018, demonstrating the country’s improvement in implementing the law on intellectual property, particularly software copyrights, in Vietnam.

4% may not be a great figure, but it represents the joint efforts and the good outcomes of cooperation among competent agencies of Vietnam. The reduced rate of software piracy also shows that Vietnam has seriously implemented the commitments of international trade agreements between the country and other international partners.
